Description

Open Mic is an examination of the time-tested power of open-ended processing and difference-based power that can be implemented anywhere, anytime, with any deck of cards. The process provided utilises 6 progressive effects involving named cards and spectator driven choices, ending with a thought provoking card revelation. Even interrupting spectators have the opportunity to shuffle the cards throughout the process.

This project is perfect as a jumping off point for intermediate/beginners in card magic, but it also reminds professionals that simplicity and an open-minded approach can be powerful.

The process includes the following effects, which can be performed from the shuffled playing cards being used:

“Checkmate” – Direct double selection of a partner.

“Prophetic Twins” – A Gemini effect processed using the Bill Simon prophetic action.

“Two for the Show” – The audience reveals the pairing by assigning cards.

“Cut It Out – ACAAN” – A simple ACAAN method that leaves the spectator with a freely named card in a freely chosen position in a deck that the magician cannot handle.

“Deja Vu – ACAAN” – A hands-on ACAAN that operates with open control and spectator shuffling. A powerful “fool” that seems to leave everything to luck!

“Haystack” – A card that is simply imagined and then presented in the spectator’s own way.
